Godly Play teaches children the art of using Christian language – parable, sacred story, silence and liturgical action – helping them become more fully aware of the mystery of God’s presence in their lives. Each class follows a pattern: welcome, story time, “I wonder” questions and reflection time. Every Sunday we hear a Bible story that is illustrated with wooden miniatures. After the story, the children are free to “wonder”. Godly Play offers children the freedom to discover.
Youth Group – A community of faithful friends as we journey to adulthood
Our youngest group of youth., grade 7-8, work on forming Christian community with the support of adult mentors. They learn about their individual, unique gifts and study the Bible together. Twice a month they join with the older youth for social, experiential and outreach opportunities.
The young people in grade 9 and 10 are planning a special pilgrimage journey for the coming summer. By getting away from home, they will explore what it means to seek Christ, to build community, and to find direction for their future as faithful leaders in the world. They study the Hebrew Scriptures on Sunday mornings and join with other youth twice a month for social, experiential and outreach opportunities
As the youth in grades 11 & 12 discern what their future may hold, special activities and natural integration into the larger community offers clarity and support. Many of our oldest high school students participate in a week of intensive outreach ministry with people in need in locations such as: Tegucigalpa, Honduras; Estill County, Kentucky; and, Baltimore City.
Throughout the year, middle and high school youth have additional opportunities through Diocesan and Provincial ministries such as Nightwatch in NYC, Happening Retreats, and Summer Camp at the Claggett Center.
On Sundays at 10:15 AM, adults gather in the Parish Hall to engage in dynamic conversation around current events, different forms of bible study, or with an outside speaker.
We also offer EFM (Education for Ministry). EfM is a 9 month curriculum for adults who want to learn about the Bible, Church History, and Theology. It is college level reading and discussion, and practical skill building around Christian identity and spiritual growth, while reflecting on the ways God is at work in the world around us. Find out more about EFM here.
